This was a design-build renovation project that converted a 1960’s era, 10-story, 133,000 square-foot building into a Temporary Lodging Facility that provides modern housing for transient Air Force families.

The $18.7 million project, which was completed in 2006, commenced with the removal of all interior finishes, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and sprinkler systems, leaving only the structural elements such as concrete floors and exterior wall assemblies. The “built up” roof and all windows were also removed and replaced.
Ninety one- and two-bedroom guest suites were then constructed, supported by modern electrical, HVAC, plumbing and sprinkler systems. A parking lot, playground, and landscape upgrades were included with this renovation.

The building was retrofitted to meet current DOD anti-terrorism
and force protection standards with such features as structural upgrades to prevent progressive collapse and blast resistant windows.
