Walter joined Tesoro in 2004 and is currently our Corporate Safety Director.  He manages, trains, and oversees the entire safety program. He also ensures all safety-training requirements are met by all employees, provides ongoing inspection of job sites, and resolves any safety-related matters that may arise.

Prior Experience

 

Walter retired from the U.S. Army Engineers with over 20 years experience as a construction supervisor, overseeing all aspects of construction.  He was responsible for supervision, evaluation & training of all building trades to include heavy equipment personnel.  He has extensive knowledge of inspection, construction, maintenance, renovation, design, cost estimation, and contracting as well as compliance with building codes and safety requirements as outlined in the Corps of Engineers Safety Manual, EM 385-1-1 and CFR 1926 OSHA regulations.

Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) and Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) Certifications, Council on Certification of Health, Environmental and Safety Technologists

Construction Site Safety Technician (CSST) National Center for Construction Education and Research NCCER.

OSHA 10 & 30 Hour Construction Outreach Trainer, U.S. Department of Labor.

BLS, Heart Saver First Aid, CPR, ADE & Environmental Instructor, American Lung Association.

Certified Training Instructor for Aerial Work Platforms (scissor lift, articulating boom lifts and Tele-handler forklifts, JLG Industries).

Authorized instructor, Hilti power actuated fasting systems.

Open Water Diver, PADI certification
